Ah yes, the age old question \u2013 how do you know if your relationship is ready for marriage? If you ask your friends or relatives you will likely be met with the classic, \u2018When you know, you know!\u2019\u2013 which, is nice, but also not very helpful.<\/p>

Anecdotally, people may joke that if you\u2019ve started wearing your retainer to bed, or you\u2019ve heard each other fart that it is time to book the venue \u2013 but in reality, there\u2019s a bit more to it than that. Here are a few signs to help you figure out if you’re ready for marriage.<\/p>

It sounds clich\u00e9 but, you can’t be happy with someone else until you’re 100% happy with yourself. Marriage should be about bringing two lives together rather than patching two halves together.<\/p>

2. You\u2019re pretty sure there isn\u2019t a better option<\/h2>

This feels like a no-brainer, but you\u2019ve deleted your dating apps and profiles and are no longer flirty texting with that cutie from the gym.<\/p>

3. Your bests and your mom are rooting for you<\/h2>

Your friends and family love your SO, but more importantly, they love how happy you are. Have honest conversations with them about any serious red flags they might have noticed and decide if these are legitimate concerns.<\/p>

4. Mundane tasks make you feel like a power couple<\/h2>

Marriage is all about teamwork and creative problem-solving\u2013 so if meal planning and IKEA make you feel like you could take on the world\u2013 this may be it!<\/p>

5. Apologies are no brainers<\/h2>

Let\u2019s be honest, we all screw up at some point. If you\u2019re both comfortable being the first to apologize it\u2019s a good sign.<\/p>

6. You don’t think about leaving when discussions get heated<\/h2>

Marriage is about working together to keep the relationship strong\u2013 this means handling difficult conversations and arguments without wanting to throw in the towel.<\/p>

7. You trust your partner 100%<\/h2>

This means that there is no jealousy when your partner goes out with their friends; mentions their \u2018work-spouse\u2019 or their ex comes up in conversation. Obviously ex-talk can bring up some icky memories, but it\u2019s important to be sure you are both over any old flames.<\/p>

8. You recognize effort is mandatory<\/h2>

Some people will tell you that true love is effortless. They are lying to you. Relationships are hard work, and marriage is no different. The best part though? It\u2019s totally and completely worth it! How awesome is it that you get to grow as a human with your biggest cheerleader and best friend?<\/p>
