The term ‘bachelorette party’ conjures images of messy nights involving phallic-shaped straws and countless shots. But at its core, your bachelorette party is meant to celebrate your transition from being single to being married. Of course, we know that there are tons of bachelorette ideas no matter what your style is. One thing you might be asking yourself is if you should be including your mom or even your mother-in-law to your bachelorette party.

If your bach is going to be a weekend-long affair that is out of town, we suggest keeping the guest list small and geared towards your closest friends. At the end of the day, your bachelorette is a great time for you to connect with your bests and relax before the big day.

By no means are you obligated to invite the moms to your bachelorette party. In case the party is going to be relaxed- like a spa day, or a wine tasting class, inviting the moms can be an amazing idea! Even if you’re all planning to hit the town by night, inviting the moms to join in the fun is absolutely fine, just be clear about what the night will entail so they aren’t taken by surprise!

Should You Invite Your Mom To Your Bachelorette?

If you absolutely do not want your mother or mother-in-law at your bachelorette, you should be clear about your expectations. Be firm, but considerate in explaining that you want quality time with your friends. You can also suggest an alternative hang out for just you two before the wedding.

When you should invite your Mom:

  • Wine Tasting
  • Paint Night
  • A Nice Dinner
  • Spa Day

When you shouldn’t invite your Mom:

  • Strip Club
  • Weekend in Vegas
  • Music Festival
  • Late Night Bar Hopping

While there are no hard and fast rules about inviting or not inviting the moms to your bachelorette, at the end of the day you need to ask yourself what you want. If you’d rather spend time with your mom and mother-in-law outside of the bachelorette party, then do so. If you think they would make a fun addition to the party, by all means extend the invite!
