Anticipation was high leading up to Steam Whistle Brewery‘s Event Venue Showcase! We know that when this iconic downtown venue throws a party, it’s going to be good! This century-old, loft-style event space has so much versatility, so I was excited to see what the design team at Artam Design Inc. had in store for us!
Needless to say, guests were not disappointed! Locomotive Hall was hopping – it was a full-out networking party! Huge balloons from Balloon Corporate Events filled the ceiling and were complimented further by the array of stunning lighting from the team at EPiQVision. Big thanks to the Steam Whistle team for the lovely photos.
Sleek, modern white lounges, and white wire maze cruisers and chairs from Divine Furniture Rental looked amazing as always, lending the room an exciting dance club feel.
After taking it all in, we sauntered over to Pilsner Hall, and found ourselves immediately taken by the enchanting, ethereal mood. With beautiful draping fabrics and candles everywhere, the space had been transformed into a romantic setting with space for 250 guests to mingle. Guests were greeted with sparkling wine (yes please!), and we wandered over to enjoy all the eye candy – a gorgeous dinner table mock-up with florals by Hunt and Gather, and rentals from Event Rental Group and Divine Furniture Rental. When we were done gazing, we delved deep into the event experience du jour and had our portraits done by The Idea Hunter‘s fashion illustrator.
As guests arrived, the energy was palpable and it was hard not to dance while talking!
Now that we were feeling comfortable, acquainted, and in full party mode, it was the right time to hit the 360 video booth from RothMedia, which instantly texts you the video – so convenient and great for socials!
We stayed a while longer in Pilsner Hall and enjoyed drinks from Cave Springs while we visited Food Dudes‘ delicious sustainable seafood bar and enjoyed oysters and champs mignonette with Good Oyster Hawt Sauce, fresh herbs and lemon, while admiring the pianist from St. Royal Entertainment play among a sea of romantic candles by Helix Candles whilst surrounded by climbing floral branches – so romantic!
After perusing the space, we headed back to Locomotive Hall where the DJ from Spectrum Agency was killing it at a really cool light up bar from EPiQVision, and girls in costumes were roving through the event which is always so fun and engaging for guests!
Of course, I’d be remiss not to mention all the amazing caterers serving up loads of tasty bites. Presidential Gourmet was serving up duck confit with orange and calvados, topped with beet root mash as well a veg option. There was also Herb-crusted Lamb Loin and for dessert, had some amazing pastries and cupsicles – what?! – a cupcake on a popsicle stick. Will the cupcake ever stop re-inventing itself?
Marigolds & Onions was serving up delicious Tuna Tartare served in a Waffle Cone and Steam Whistle Short Ribs served with cracked pepper and garlic jus, french beans and whipped potato. I had to restrain myself so as not to try all the flavours of Marigold & Onions’ adorable petit fours. There was so much other food!
Food Dudes had the classics slayed with a Microgreens & Steakhouse Caesar salad with Jalapeno Caesar dressing, and delicious Beef Tenderloin with pomme puree, asparagus (so seasonal), crispy mushrooms, peppercorn jus, and onion jam. Repeat: onion. jam. It was amazing!
Oliver & Bonacini Catering served up an asado marinated Striploin with grapefruit & avocado salad (stealing that one for home!), and chimichurri.
Eatertainment Special Events & Catering served up delicious chicken taquitos with poblano sweet potatoes, and vegan ceviche & guacomole, in, wait for it… waffle cones! The perfect combo of sweet and savoury and what a great way to serve cocktail appetizers!
In addition to West Coast Shrimp Ravioli and Lobster Tarragon Bisque, 10tation Event Catering had delicious pastries are profiteroles with gianduja cream, dark chocolate, and hazelnut crumble! Gianduja, for those who don’t know, is a mouth-watering blend of chocolate and hazelnut butter.
The savory hand pies from Daniel et Daniel Catering & Events were delicious; they had two options: chicken, spinach & smoked gouda, or artichokes, parmesan, mozzarella and cream cheese.
Oh, and wait… there was an edible balloon station! WHAT?! Trend alert! The edible balloons from Idea Hunter had helium inside so they would stay afloat as you ate them. Cute!
All in all, we had an amazing time at Steam Whistle’s Event Venue Showcase! From the delicious food and drinks to the great conversations and fun experiences, it was truly an unforgettable evening. It’s always nice to take a break from the daily grind and spend some quality time with colleagues and meet some new event professionals. We at Mad Bash Group are so grateful to all the talented and dedicated people who put this evening together, and can’t wait for our next get-together. Cheers to a fantastic night!
