My daughter treated me to this place seeing I love gardening. It was breathtaking to see. I probably should have gone early summer but non the less there were still lots of flowers blooming and it was so beautiful to see. It's a little pricey for admission but when you see all the care and work they need to keep it beautiful you understand why it's that price but it is worth it!
A beautiful way to spend a sunny day. Loved seeing the tester garden, full of totally unique new kinds of flowers. The butterflies and bees were so busy, it was great to witness such a healthy ecosystem! Absolutely will be back in the spring next year.
For being so close to the city, this place is nice and quiet. The trails are for everyone, especially the boardwalk through the marsh lands. Bring black oil sunflower seeds and peanuts because the birds here will come and land right on your hand and the chipmunks are more than happy to also eat right out of your hands. Give yourself an extra bit of time to just sit and listen to the wildlife.
The Royal Botanical Gardens is definitely a Hamilton must visit! Beautiful gardens and flowers especially the Mediterranean green house and the cactus and succulent collection. We went to watch a garden music night show me and my father and we really enjoyed it.The only reason I gave 4 stars is because the pass is only valid for one day only. Unlike some other museums and gardens, where a single pass could be valid for 3 consecutive days. That's the only suggestion I have especially that the RBG is 27km long (1100 hectares).
This place is gorgeous and huge! Each of the gardens can be driven to, or there are several trails throughout the gardens that you can walk through. Our favorite garden was the rock garden, but everything had its own beauty. We usually check out botanical gardens and conservatories when we go on trips, and this is probably the largest one we have been to. You can spend your whole day here and still have things to do for another time. I highly recommend this stop for any plant lovers out there.
