Even before the pandemic shrank our social circles, couples were moving toward smaller weddings. With a typical guest range between 50 and 75 people, guest-focused, more intimate weddings certainly here to stay.

Whether your wedding is intimate due to choice or otherwise, we wanted to let you know you’re far from alone. Here are 6 reasons why you may actually be grateful to be hosting a wedding smaller than you would have otherwise expected.

Less Stress, Less time

Planning a massive wedding can be very time consuming and stressful for the couple. In general, having a smaller wedding allows you to spend less time planning and more time focusing on what is important to you as a couple.

Rather than a traditional venue, you can opt for an intimate restaurant or backyard setting where you don’t need to worry about spending thousands of dollars on décor and flowers.

More Quality Time with Friends and Family

The small gathering gives you more chances to connect with friends and family. Your guests will feel special that you chose to spend your special day with them and you will be able to have deeper conversations with your guests.

Less Planning (if you want)

Planning a big wedding usually involves coordinating multiple vendors and venues, but with a micro wedding you can – mostly – sit back and relax, if you want. Of course if you are wanting to have a meticulously curated event, that is still possible, but only if you want it to be!

More of the Good Stuff

Since you aren’t feeding hundreds of people, you can opt for the good stuff, like top shelf liquor or a special wine that your guests will enjoy. If food and drink are pillars of your relationship, now is the time to enjoy and give yourselves a meal you will remember forever.

Less Expectations

When planning a micro wedding, you are able to be a little more lax on the ‘traditional’ aspects of a wedding. Forego the white dress, or really any aspect of weddings that aren’t your jam! Not a fan of dancing? Opt instead for a night of board games or an intimate fireside singalong.

Better yet, there is no room for any invitees that you don’t actually want there. Perfect!

More Budget Freedom

One of the best things about micro weddings is that your budget suddenly has a lot of wiggle room. Put your dollars behind what is important to you as a couple rather than where is dictated by traditional wedding budgets. Spring for better wine, or put a little more into your honeymoon budget.

So, when you sit down to start planning your wedding, really take time to think about what is important to you as a couple, you might find that a micro wedding is exactly what you need!
