Gladstone Hotel

Most Recent Review
"Had our wedding at the Gladstone in June, 2016. From the beginning in January when we initially touched base with Suzette to the morning after the wedding, all went off without a hitch! All meetings with Suzette were super helpful and productive. We booked the north ball room for the ceremony and evening cocktail event, while using the 2nd floor gallery space as a holding area for our 110 guests during room switch over. All staff at the Gladstone were very friendly and guest focussed throughout. Food and craft drink selection was superb! The food was just as flavourful and creative on the day of the wedding as it was when the chef served the dishes to us for tasting night. Very welcoming and warm space throughout the hotel. Our guests also appreciated the funky vibe to this historic space. Would not hesitate to recommend this place for an event." (more)

The Eglinton Grand

"We just held our daughter's bat mitzvah service and party at The Eglinton Grand and we were thrilled with how magical the whole event turned out to be!! The ambience and décor were second to none – the place has been restored to its former Art Deco movie-house glory. We had our daughter's name up on the marquee, and our guests were greeted on a red carpet with brass stanchions and red velvet ropes. Cocktails were served upstairs in a beautiful mezzanine area, from which guests were heard to gasp when the curtains were opened to reveal the stunning décor of the dining room and dance floor below. The special events managers at The Eglinton Grand, Chantal and Teresa, were fantastic – friendly, professional, knowledgeable and accommodating with our every question (of which there were many throughout the planning process!). They made everything so easy for us! The event-night staff was also very helpful and professional. I was so impressed by how special everyone there made us feel about our event, despite the fact that we were surely just one more event in a week/month/year full of events for them. Chantal and Teresa worked very hard with us to customize our fantastic dinner spread. They were willing to explore different options and pricing, and in the end, we received rave reviews from our guests about the food and drinks. They also provided terrific recommendations for entertainment, photo/video and décor when asked, and we were so happy with how well they all worked together. I cannot argue with some of the drawbacks I've read about this venue, but we didn't find them to be deal-breakers. Parking is scarce, it's true. But that's mid-town Toronto for you… We heard no complaints from our guests, who simply parked in the 'Green P' a block away or took an Uber to the event (and were pleased not to have to travel too far). Accessibility has been much improved with the recently installed elevator, which was used by our more elderly guests. It only accommodates a few people at a time though, so be sure most of your guests can use the stairs. The separate ceremony space (Gallery Room) does have a separate entrance, true, which means that guests had to don their coats again to exit and re-enter the main entrance for the party. We were given the choice of holding the ceremony in the main ballroom instead, but opted to go with the Gallery Room anyway, because we much preferred its more intimate atmosphere. The only detail that we really wish had been different was that all of the uneaten food from our dinner ended up being discarded; they would not give us the leftovers or even donate them to a shelter. We were told that this was for everyone's protection, and I've heard that this is not uncommon in the catering industry. But it still didn't sit well with us to have that much food go to waste. Overall, our experience was exceptional, and I would enthusiastically recommend The Eglinton Grand to anyone wanting top-level service and quality for their event in a breathtakingly beautiful venue. Archeo

"We hosted our Christmas wedding at Archeo and couldn't be happier with our experience. The restaurant itself is incredibly beautiful and needs so little decorations, as it is gorgeous on its own. The planning process was a breeze, with our coordinator Victoria helping us at every step of the way. She was sure to remind us well before upcoming deadlines and provided us with an events package that made planning so much easier. The food was AMAZING, all night long our guests told us how happy they were with the food. And then there is the staff...they were thoughtful and attentive and went over and above to make sure myself and my husband and of course all our guests were happy. We are still on cloud nine weeks later and that has so much to do with Archeo and Distillery Events." (more)

Estates of Sunnybrook

"We booked Estates of Sunnybrook (EOS) after doing tons of searches. Once we saw the McLean House we knew it was where we wanted to have our wedding. The house is BEAUTIFUL, the grounds are kept impeccably and the FOOD -- amazing.Though there were a few limitations, Diane our sales manager, and Paula, or catering director/manager made sure we had the best day. At the end of it all, our wedding was perfect and we wouldn't have chosen a different venue for our wedding. Both my husband and I loved the garden for our ceremony, the tent extension on the patio for our reception, and the other included rooms in the house for cake serving and late night poutine.Though our schedule was pushed back a little because of tent setup, small rainfall, and a day-of complication with our helium tanks, the EOS staff are very experienced and were very ad hoc and discussed with our GM what they could do to make the guests enjoy the day without any issues and I gotta say, it was fantastic. I was impressed. Also, our guests all said they LOVED the venue and that it was the best wedding food they've ever had (of course we ordered the best of the best menu choices for our guests -- and also the amazing chef allowed us to make a few substitutions to the food pairings -- things we enjoyed a great deal at the tasting). You really get what you pay for! The food was so amazing that after we looked back at photos of the day, we want to return just to have the meal again.Only 1 thing I would suggest is to allow 2nd wedding party of the day to setup earlier. Thanks again everyone at Estates of Sunnybrook for a perfect wedding planning and experience." St. George's Golf and Country Club

Most Recent Review
"My husband, Darryl, and I were married earlier this year in May and held our reception dinner and celebration at St. George's Golf and Country Club. We had an extended engagement which allowed for plenty of time to research and compare our options. I have to say that I am so glad we found St. George's!! It was exactly what we were looking for in terms of size, atmosphere, and overall excellence. From the first visit, through the many subsequent visits (there were many!), up to the event day, St. George's always made us feel welcome, made time to see us, never rushed us, delivered amazing service, and really prioritized our day. I found the team to be extremely friendly, courteous and accommodating, and could not have asked for more from a venue. We loved every second of our wedding, including the planning process, and I whole-heartedly believe that it comes down to the vendors you choose. Even our guests complimented the venue, service and food! I would recommend St. George's to anyone and everyone in a heartbeat. Alyssa and her team were absolutely amazing!!" (more)

Guests are still talking about the risotto, fresh taco, vegetable and roast suckling pig food stations. Late night nosh was sliders and steak fries! The Lodge On Queen

Most Recent Review
"The Lodge is a beautiful space on Queen Street that can be used for a variety of events - I've had a party there, and recently I also filmed part of a short film there. It's great for a number of activities, and Ron and Diane are excellent with accommodating the specific needs of each event. It's also in an incredibly convenient location, which makes it easy to bring in your own food and beverage, and it's easy for people to get to. I'd absolutely recommend it." (more)

One King West

"Stayed on the 23rd floor. 2306 to be precise. Beautiful room, beautiful view. Super comfy bed. No complaints about the hotel at all. Super awesome locationThey were switching their lock system while I was there, so it had been reported my lock wasn't working (I didn't report it). So while I was in the shower a bell boy and a lock technician were knocking like maniacs on my door and they were trying to enter my room, I had the latch on, so they weren't able to access. But it startled me. Probably a breakdown in communication, still the whole situation seemed weird. All in all though, great place. " (more)
