The University Club of Toronto is a traditional private club that is reminiscent of the Victorian-style clubs you rarely see today. The food is absolutely fantastic and the service is exceptional. The staff takes the time to know not only your name but also your preferences and your interests. The venue hosts unparalleled events, including private concerts with Juno Award winners and musicians from the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, speaking engagements with CEOs of international corporations, political leaders, and famous authors, and art dinners with exquisite pieces on display. Fine dining is served in the gorgeous Library while more casual fare is available in the Bar. The Lounge is open for more relaxed get-togethers or to catch up on some light work. For those late nights or bad weather, there are also rooms upstairs at an extremely reasonable rate compared to hotels in the downtown core. I'm not based downtown, but when I need to go, I absolutely love coming here for part of my day or evening.
