It's interesting that we all go to these places and have such different experiences....I took my partner here for her birthday and it was great. The scallops were seared perfectly, our main course was amazing and had big portions and they even did something special for dessert to celebrate her birthday. I would recommend.
Went to the New Year's Eve gala, very disappointed, not organized at all. When I came at 10, they haven't cleared the area for dinner people, and ask me to go down to the lobby to wait. There is a photo booth, but it wasn't ready till 10:30 and it is right in front of high traffic area in front of the DJ. I mean seriously you should know this area will be flood with people how do you expect people to fall in line. Plus I have to pay to get photo printed with the ticket I pay to get in the gala should I at least get free photo? The coat checking room was a mess the longest waiting time is to wait in line coat checking and when I leave waiting for people to find my coat. With 4 people in front of me I have to wait for 20 minutes to my turn. . This is also not the first year they host this gala, if I am not wrong this is the 9 the year. They should learn my now at new years Eve gala people need to check coat, since this is Toronto winter time. The ticket says food provided at 12:15 after count down but it didn't come out until 12:40 and all I get is a chicken breast on a stick.Overall, I'd recommend anyone interested in the new years gala give it a second thought before buying a ticket.
Toula is an outstanding place for relaxed upmarket lunch. I went there for the Christmas lunch and was very impressed with how nice the 3 course meal was. Everything I was served was outstanding. It's certainly not a cheap restaurant but worth every dollar.
Tonight was interesting. The service was fine and the food acceptable but during dinner the restaurant was hosting a party that essentially overtook the facility and absolutely killed the night! Why take reservations when you know you have an event booked??? Not impressed at all.
A big disappointment! I don't usually choose a buffet meal...I have found in the past that it's too crowded and the food looks better than it tastes..and that is what experienced today. And that was after we realized that although we arrived early for the brunch we were seated in an area with full sunshine..which was great for the view but far too warm for us in winter clothing and no blind on the window. Wondered why we were seated there when we arrived first..Or was it because we were 6 retired women. And then the buffet was difficult to access due to placement of tables and then plates were too often emptied and not refilled. The staff were pleasant and served well. My omelet was very good..but wished there was some toast or buns and butter. And no chocolate for dessert..although the tiramisu was delicious. Oh well...live and learn!
