I have booked my event through Avenue Banquet Hall prior to Covid19. Unfortunately, because of the restrictions due to the pandemic my event can't be hosted at this time. However, it is a time sensitive event and the owners refuse to refund my deposit. The deposit was given in good faith and I am only looking to get out because it is a time sensitive event and it cannot be hosted now. It is not an event that can be hosted years later. The owner refuses to return my $2000 deposit which all businesses are making exceptions because of unforeseen circumstances due to the pandemic. The owner is very difficult to deal with and I warn all people to stay away....if you have an event consider anything else before reaching out to the Avenue Banquet Hall. Toronto is a very large City and you are very lucky to have an endless amount of resources before resorting to Avenue Banquet Hall. I would have actually rated Avenue in the negative numbers but they don't exist!
We hosted my wife's 40th Birthday Party at this amazing venue last week. The owners Emil and Julia went above and beyond to accommodate our every need and want. The food was cooked to perfection. Appetizers and salads were delicious and in large quantities. Some of our favorites were Khachapuri Squares with cheese, Smoked Duck Breast Served on potato latkes and crepes with mushrooms, to name a few. We barely had any room for main dishes (Charcoal Chicken Kababs and Beef steak). The service and professionalism of the staff was outstanding. Our server was attentive and accommodating throughout the whole night. We can't thank you enough for such a memorable and fun night. We highly recommend this venue for any special events you may have planned. THANK YOU!
All I can say is WOW! When I first booked with The Avenue Banquet Hall, it was still owned by Marla Kay. If anyone doesn't know who Marla Kay is, she is the pit bull you want by your side when planning a wedding. One day, I got an email sent out by the new owners; Julia and Emil. They took the time to reach out and let all booked events know about the change in ownership. As a bride planning her wedding I was concerned, so I emailed them back. There response was almost immediate. Julia answered all my questions and eased my concerns. Then COVID hit, they stayed in touch the entire time. Sent out email updates and were still very prompt in answering questions. They were so understanding and even held two dates for us, our original this year and a back up for next year. They took time out of their day to meet with us and helped us talk through the pros and cons of still having our wedding this year or next. We finally decided to go ahead with our wedding, one month prior. It was crunch time! Julia and Emil pulled our day together beautifully, from the decor to setting up our centerpieces, projecting mapping and other diy decor pieces we had. I wish I had photos to share, everything was stunning. And I wasn't bothered for a single thing, it was all taken care of for me. The only thing I was worried about was the food. Due to COVID we didn't get to have a tasting; they weren't hosting events regularly enough to have some of everything in stock. Turns out I had nothing, and I repeat NOTHING to worry about. The food was absolutely amazing! Everyone raved about the food. Including a cousin who is a chef himself. There was a ton of food but it was so delicious! We got quality and quantity, all at a reasonable price per person. I hope to have many other events hosted here. Thank you again for all that you both have done for us!!
I've been a guest at The Avenue multiple times before the pandemic and every time I knew I could expect an elegant venue, delicious food and a wonderful overall experience. When I had to host a small event myself recently, The Avenue was my first choice. The new owners were very patient and attentive to my requests, answered all my questions and addressed all my concerns, overall were just a pleasure to deal with. My party was absolutely fantastic, food, atmosphere, décor, everything was perfect and I couldn't have asked for more. I loved every minute and I know my guests had a great time. I will definitely be returning! Thank you Julia and Emil for making this a wonderful and memorable experience!
I have never written a review of a banquet hall. The reason for this is that, when you are feeding a large group of people, the quality of the food inevitably goes down. This was not the case this past Saturday when my daughter got married. I was impressed by the calibre of the food and the price of it. We started off with appetizers which included Spring Rolls, Breaded Shrimps, Oriental Noodles (in little tiny Chinese food containers that were so cute) Satay, and my personal faves the Insalata Caprese on a stick (AWESOME). Then came the Hummus with Harissa Paste, this little detail elevated the Hummus and it is something that I going to have to try at home myself. The next course was a slender slice of cucumber surrounding some greens in dressing, some cherry tomatoes and a crepe stuffed with mushrooms. I must say that this little crepe was the highlight of the night for me. Then came the meat... The steak you could cut with a butter knife, it was incredibly well prepared (my guess is that they sous vide the lot of them) It was perfect. The chicken breast beside it was also juicy and very well prepared. Root veg included Potatoes, Beets, Zucchini and roasted carrots. Desert was a mini lava cake flanked by half a stewed pear. I do not think there was a bad comment on the food to be had. The hall was decorated by digital video projectors which were putting seamless vistas all around the room. This venue is under new ownership and if you are looking to host an event, even in this tenuous time, you should look in on these folks.
