Built in 1918, and known as The Capitol Theatre. The Capitol originally opened as a Vaudeville house seating 1079 guests, but converted to a movie theatre in the mid 1930's. In 1998 it officially closed its doors and reopened as a venue, hosting a large number of weddings, galas, private functions and special events.
Centrally located at Yonge & Eglinton, The historic Capitol Event Theatre special event venue has been restored to it's original 1918 grandeur. With period architecture and elegant vintage details, it creates the ultimate combination of old world glamour and modern functionality.
Boasting a grand scale ballroom, tiered mezzanine and large stage, equipped with the latest audio/visual technologies, The Capitol Event Theatre is spacious enough for a grand scale event yet warm enough for a more intimate gathering.
Having hosted multiple events from weddings, fashion shows and Bar/Bat Mitzvahs right down to corporate team building and film shoots, The Capitol Event Theatre has become the quintessential event venue in Toronto.
