Markham Museum

"We had our wedding reception in the Transportation Hall in early September. The museum was amazing from start to finish--from when we first contacted the event coordinator to the last-minute day-of details! It was a perfect venue for us to truly create our own vision for what we wanted the space to look like and what kind of atmosphere we wanted to create (this was very important for us). the museum also lets guests to move seamlessly between being indoors and outdoors, which was an added bonus. And the grounds around the venue offers breathtaking opportunities for photos (which we definitely took advantage of). What made the planning process so enjoyable was working with the sales/events coordinator. She was so accommodating and really went ABOVE AND BEYOND to help us bring our vision to life. We know our positive experience was part and parcel due to her ability to understand client needs and we are so grateful to have worked with someone who was so so helpful, understanding, organized, and thoughtful. St. George's Golf and Country Club

"My husband, Darryl, and I were married earlier this year in May and held our reception dinner and celebration at St. George's Golf and Country Club. We had an extended engagement which allowed for plenty of time to research and compare our options. I have to say that I am so glad we found St. George's!! It was exactly what we were looking for in terms of size, atmosphere, and overall excellence. From the first visit, through the many subsequent visits (there were many!), up to the event day, St. George's always made us feel welcome, made time to see us, never rushed us, delivered amazing service, and really prioritized our day. I found the team to be extremely friendly, courteous and accommodating, and could not have asked for more from a venue. We loved every second of our wedding, including the planning process, and I whole-heartedly believe that it comes down to the vendors you choose. Even our guests complimented the venue, service and food! I would recommend St. George's to anyone and everyone in a heartbeat. Alyssa and her team were absolutely amazing!!" (more)

Heintzman House

"We held our wedding reception at Heintzman House in July 2014 and couldn't have been more happy with our venue choice. The charm and beauty of this venue is amazing. What also appealed to us about the Heintzman House was the fact that there was a large bridal suite with private bathroom and several sitting rooms that the guests could roam in and explore before or during the reception. Furthermore, the house had beautifully manicured grounds with lots of greenery and colourful flower beds so guest could enjoy getting some fresh air during the reception. Almost every other guest we spoke to made a comment about how great and unique this venue was so we knew people loved it. It was stunning for photos too...I wish we actually allotted more time for photos at the venue. We also really enjoyed dealing with Christine who runs the place. She was always extremely nice and very accommodating in letting us come over to try out decorations or drop of supplies. All in all, picking this reception venue was one of our best wedding planning decisions. " (more)

Black Creek Pioneer Village

"Loved them. Beautiful buildings they have gathered from all over. Their feel is genuine and easy to navigate. Their actors/historians are amazing, I felt like I got something out of everyone I spoke with. My favorite was the tinsmith demonstrating hurricane lanterns and the flaming figgy pudding with a brief and engaging history of Christmas dinner. So much fun. I will definitely return in the spring and summer and the fall and spend a full day there." (more)

The Guild Inn Estate

"Working here for just over 3 months, Ive witnessed dozens of happy clients and their events and look forward to the long thank you emails we receive from clients each week expressing their appreciation that their event was handled so delicately and professionally. I think is it SO important to stay transparent on these review sites, but unfortunately the world isnt just and fair, especially with the internet used more and more as a tool to gouge competitors these days... My suggestion to anyone is to take all these reviews with a grain of salt (the good, the bad) and take 1 hour of your week to book and visit the venue and meet the staff first hand to form your own opinion. There are SO MANY variables and elements to every event that may not be in the control of the venue as a third party service provider that they tend to get burned for with no way to express the circumstances that lead to it. If you plan to rely on reviews, I suggest to look at how active the account is did they do only one or two reviews? Did they provide any photos to back their experience? Be mindful of the tone, if someone is super angry, there may be more to a story than expressed, and there is no harm in being upfront and direct by mentioning the negative review to the venue rep. If you are dealing with a reliable and accountable venue, their entire team will be aware of the negative reviews they recently received and can explain the situation for you to make your own judgement. Those are my two cents working in this industry for more than 7 years now you just have to feel it out for yourself." (more)
