We booked the Queensway Wedding Chapel under Le Trport. We were extremely satisfied by the service we received from Mary and Rui to ensure that our wedding ceremony venue would be well accommodated on our special day. Searching for a beautiful, cozy, non-religious venue to host our ceremony (piano use included) at our hometown Mississauga was not an easy find. With great sadness, we wanted to inform you regarding our experience with our officiant, Reverend Brian Scott, who was recommended to us by Mary at Le Trport. We were reassured by Mary that Reverend Scott performed BOTH religious and non-religious ceremonies (it also indicated so on his business card we were given). We had an initial meeting with him and loved him dearly. We sensed the Reverend appeared reluctant to have a wedding ceremony without any mention of God. So we held a second in-person meeting with him and spoke to him about his comfort level in mentioning God only once and indicate "in whatever form you may know Him" to ensure religious inclusiveness to our families and all our beloved Guests. We emphasized that our families were from different religious backgrounds so it was important to demonstrate mutual respect for our families and keep the ceremony non-religious in nature. This was a huge reason as to why we chose Le Trport Chapel as our wedding ceremony venue to hold our secular ceremony. The Reverend gave us his word that he understood that we wanted a non-religious ceremony and reassured us that he was comfortable with doing one. He reassured us that his sole purpose was to ensure we were utmost happy with our wedding ceremony. We worked with him to go over a non-religious script which he indicated he would review thoroughly and make revisions, but at the rehearsal the day before the wedding, he indicated not having had any knowledge of the script whatsoever. So we graciously provided with him with another paper copy recognizing that he must be quite busy with many engagements. He announced publicly in front of our bridal party at the rehearsal that he was in FULL awareness that we wanted a non-religious ceremony and would be sure to deliver us one as previously agreed upon.At our wedding ceremony, Reverend Brian Scott, did a starting Christian prayer, mentioned God on multiple occasions without indicated "in whatever form you may know Him" like we had agreed on. In addition to that, he added a new element where he announced he does not usually do this, but proceeded to bless our rings with another Christian prayer before we exchanged them. He did ask for our permission to do the ring prayer, however, it is undeniably true he was fully aware that if we refused in front our guests, it would make a scene. After our wedding, we emailed Le Trport to advise them of what had happened at our wedding ceremony in hopes that we could do our part to ensure that other couples getting married at the Queensway Chapel will not have the same experience we did. We requested that Le Trport staff no longer recommend Reverend Brian Scott for non-religious ceremonies. We received no response back.....We can only deduce that Le Trport as a venue has a strong grounding in Christian faith and supports the actions of Reverend Brian Scott. Getting married is a very special, once-in-a-lifetime moment for families to share together and experience a wholesome sense of love. I would imagine, many couples searching for a secular venue will choose the Queensway Chapel. It is our greatest hope that no couple would have to go through what we experienced and hope that Le Trport will do whatever you can to ensure the best chapel experience for your customers. We came to Le Treport, thrilled that there was beautiful venue to host our secular ceremony. We left with a heavy heart and distinct memory where we gave our full trust to an esteemed religious leader and was left distraught and further removed from our spiritual faith and faith in humanity. Sincerely, Aaron & Alani
