I was excited to attend my friend’s wedding, Aug 13/22, what a disaster it was!!
Service was so bad, we had to ask for the bread basket and water for our table. All the dinner courses were cold, salmon was charred, filet mignon was over cooked like cardboard. The tartufo was melted, guest beside me told server to take it back, he did, and no one else at the table got dessert, he never came back with more, no coffee! I could continue but too much to list. I feel bad for the bride and groom as they had no choice but to pay! It should’ve been a beautiful day for them instead it was a disaster! BEWARE!

We were looking for a venue for our fathers’ celebration of life in June 2022 and had attended an event at the Renaissance and the venue looked good - as a guest. When we met with the event coordinator, she was very inexperienced and did not know the venue well. We asked if there was AV and she said no. We looked up to the ceiling and there was the projector and screen. She said we had to pay for it which is common to have a 3rd party AV company manage that - but she would never have told us that unless we asked. We had two weeks to pull this together and it took over a week to get a contract - we were not going to take their word to send out invitations. When asked what the wine was for the open bar, we were told red and white multiple times. She got on the phone with her manager with us in the room and he said it could be Portuguese. We still never found out because we bought and brought in our own. We were told we would have Grey Goose, Bombay Gin, Corona, Heineken and Stella (among others) at the bar. The bartender arrived and laughed to say you don't have that. But we paid for it. We requested 2 bartenders as the contract says 1 bartender per 100 and we were told we should be fine. We made sure we had two and the second bartender had difficulty opening a beer. The food was brought out at 6:00pm and taken away at 9:00pm. When asked why they took away the food (as speeches just finished and people still needed to eat) we were told they were sued twice so took it away. We order food for 160 and a very large plate of fruit was taken and never brought back. They did bring out some cold pizza. We specifically requested individual bottles of water for the guests and was told they would provide. They put large bottles of water on the tables and said they did not have individual bottles, but some came out at the end of the night. We asked for the carpets to be vacuumed because you could see debris from the event before and it was not done - I offered to do it myself. The communication between groups there was terrible. When we asked simple questions, the answers were never known. The guests would not have known what went on behind the curtain to execute this event, but I would caution you to book an event here. You do not get what you were promised or what you paid for.

Caution anyone to think twice before having your wedding at Renaissance. Our wedding was April 9, 2022. It was a bad experience working with Renaissance, top 3 reasons why:
1) Stolen and broken wedding items: at the end of the night, we had two large flowers with stands worth $1,250 (flowers $700 and two stands $550). We were told they were safe at Renaissance, and we and our vendors could pick them up the next day. Next day we arrive at noon, the flowers are gone. There was a huge party in another hall that next day, with no Renaissance staff present with people and kids playing and eating outside of their own assigned hall, in the lobby. Not very organized. When our florist went to pick up her flower stands, one of them was broken. When she spoke with Renaissance, they took zero accountability or responsibility. So us and the florist are at a financial loss.
2) Terrible communication by Renaissance staff within their company and externally to us (the customer): Emails we sent took days to get responses or would not get a response at all. At times I would have two people contact me asking the same question. I had to literally give Renaissance every detail (order of the day, guests dietary needs, floor plans) and just hoped things worked out. When we had our food tasting, half the food that was on our wedding menu was not available to taste: the horsdeuvres, salad and crepe dessert were not available to taste. Upon signing our contract, we were told we would have a Coordinator and an Operations Manager. We had a man named Daniel help us, but it was us reaching out and asking questions so we could plan things out. In fairness Daniel tried his best with the resources given to him by the Renaissance team.
3) Lukewarm food, inconsistent room temperature, distracted staff day- of: guests food was lukewarm, the room temperature went from being too warm for guests to too cold where they needed to grab their coats. Our bartender was on her phone half the night and our servers were at times nowhere to be seen.
The price was decent, but it’s not worth the poor service you get and a complete lack of attention to detail. Or the cruel attitude they give you after your event is over and you’ve paid them in full.

Booked my daughter communion September 2020 for April 2021 and secured the date with a $500 deposit. COVID hit and when I requested my deposit, I was told that I could use the money as a credit at one of their restaurants. Fast forward to February 2022, I called to book a dinner at the restaurant and was told management had changed, and they no longer would be honouring my arrangement. The manager I dealt with was Dennis. He was abrasive, condescending and refused to honour my previous arrangement. He told me my event could be held at the hall but I would have to pay 23% on taxes and server fees (which by the way, was not in my contract). Do not under any circumstance deal with this hall for ANY of your events. They are unreasonable and the customer service is the worse I’ve seen thus far.

I had written a negative review back on November 10th because of issues I had with the food. I have been contacted by their staff and have very kindly been offered a refund and a chance to cater for us again. Apparently they have new staff and are trying to work out some kinks. I appreciate their effort and look forward to seeing how the food turns out.
