From background ambiance to high-energy partying, the Nova Sounds Band has been chosen 15 times by TORONTO LIFE as "The Best of the City" in live music curation! We provide soloists, duos, trios, quartets plus our 5 to 9-piece group, performing an ever-growing playlist of over 2000 songs that include Top 40, R&B, rock, dance/disco, Motown, country, jazz, classical, Latin, Italian, Hebrew/Jewish, Greek, and more!

We're proud of the Juno and Grammy-winning vocalists and musicians, both past & present, in our band! At the helm is our Creative Director Dr. Alan Shiner, who has worked onstage and in the studio as a keyboardist, producer, and composer with legendary artists like Mariah Carey, Drake, Ne-Yo, Martin Short, Baby Face and The Pointer Sisters in Toronto, Los Angeles, New York, Nashville, London and Miami. He has also penned several iconic jingles like "967-11-11" (Pizza Pizza), "Everyone Loves Marineland," "African Lion Safari," "Sleep Country Canada," "Sunwing.CA," and "Swiss Chalet."

Nova Sounds Entertainment services also include TruVibe DJs + MC'ing and customized sound & lighting production.

For my 70th Birthday party celebration, I hired the Nova Sounds Band pianist, Alan Shiner, to provide musical entertainment. The music choices were much appreciated and my guests thoroughly enjoyed the versatility and atmosphere that was created. The flexibility allowed for initially playing a portable piano for the outside deck. As guests moved indoors, so did the pianist who then played the baby grand piano in the living room. As people moved outside again, so too did the music, again on the portable piano. The energy was super and everyone is still talking about it. The presentation was professional and accommodating. As I have experienced the Nova Sounds entertainment over many decades they have been great for various big occasions, as well as more intimate gatherings. It’s always a sure thing! -Corinne Engel

Nova Sounds Band didn’t just play at our wedding—they threw a full-on concert, and everyone was invited! My grandma even ditched her cane for a solid 20 minutes during their Motown set. Their lead singer has this powerhouse voice that gave me chills, and the way they mashed up our requests into their setlist felt so personal. By the end of the night, my dress was sweaty, my voice was gone, and I had zero regrets. If your idea of a perfect wedding involves a dance floor that never empties, book them yesterday. Worth every penny and then some!

The Nova Sounds Band & String Quartet just played at our wedding, and it was a dream come true!! The band leader, Alan, was a pleasure to work with in the lead up to our big day, and took great care to make sure all of our requests were met and exceeded. The band had no problem learning new dance songs for us, plus special music for our ceremony. They created an incredible atmosphere the entire night, and the dance floor was electric. We highly recommend booking them for your next event!

Nova Sounds is a must-have for your wedding!!! We saw their quartet performing at the Shangri-La Toronto Hotel in 2024 and knew that we had to have them at our wedding. When we approached the band leader, Alan, he was warm, friendly, and eager to help us create the perfect wedding. We decided then and there to have their 9-piece band perform at our wedding. Throughout the planning process, Alan and his team were incredibly accommodating and flexible. On our wedding night, the band’s energy was mesmerizing – they wowed our guests with their performance and even let us sing with them! We can’t recommend them enough!
