A full-service, historic venue with more than a dozen unique spaces including a stunning outdoor quadrangle, 425-guest Great Hall, stained glass window chapel and a 430-seat theatre. Featuring vaulted ceilings, travertine and marble floors, oak timbers, hand-crafted stonework and ornate ceilings and corbels, Hart House is an architectural marvel. Centrally located on the downtown campus of the University of Toronto, this 100-year-old building has hosted royalty, heads of state, celebrity galas, conferences, performances, receptions and some of the most romantic and elegant weddings in Toronto. A favourite of wedding photographers, Hart House serves as the backdrop for engagement parties and weddings year-round. Winter weddings with a walk down a pristine snow-covered aisle followed by a reception by a roaring fire. Summer weddings are when the garden is in full bloom. Even rain-drenched weddings take on a magical quality at Hart House. More than a venue, Hart House also boasts a full-service culinary experience. A Red Seal Certified chef, Marco Tucci is a master of his craft, taking an elegant yet novel approach to every dish. Overseeing over 1000 events annually, he has prepared meals for diplomats and luminaries including Margaret Atwood, Donovan Bailey, Romeo Dallaire, Irshad Manji, Bob Rae, and Mary Walsh, as well as a host of special guests and renowned artists at the Toronto International Film Festival.

Choosing Hart House as our wedding venue is the best decision we have made throughout the whole wedding planning process. There is absolutely no close second choice! We can't speak highly enough about our experience at Hart House. From first meeting, to budgeting and scheduling to the wedding day, Tara (our venue coordinator) and all the staff made everything so seamless for us. Some highlight that make Hart House the absolute dream wedding venue include:
- Pricing transparency, no upselling! Tara provided us a detailed breakdown of costs line by line so there are no surprises when budget for our wedding
- Professionalism! Tara and her team are amazing with timely communication and were patient with all of our questions and gave us great advices throughout the planning process. They also coordinated super well with my other vendors.
- The space is beautiful, I felt like I got married in a literal castle. The Great Hall reminds me so much of the dining hall in Harry Potter. Minimal decoration required as the space is already breathtakingly gorgeous. There are a back up in door space for rain scenario as well!
- Bridal suite and groom suite are on site! We are able to do all the getting ready together at hart house, so one less worry about logistic and transportation. The rooms themselves are also beautiful, with ornated windows and bookshelves!
- The foods and drink selection are awesome. So many choices to pick from! Our guests were raving about how good the canapes and main courses were.
- Vendor set up, loading doc, AV etc. are easy, we did not have any difficulty with set up. Tara and her team were also on site to help with set up and décor!
- All the table set up, linen, cutlery, plates, chairs are provided, so we did not have to worry about renting those items

We can't speak highly enough about our experience at Hart House. Tara and all the staff made everything so, so easy for us. They were flexible with our plans, gave us great advice and were so patient with all our detailed questions. They involved our day-of-coordinator as well which helped everything go so smoothly. A few things I really appreciated were:

- The space itself needs such little decor because it is so beautiful
- The food is AWESOME and they have SUCH a big menu with SO many options. If you want activation stations (like pastas, sushi) that's there for you, grazing tables, passed appetizers, you name it. It's endless!
- Good wines and solid drinks! They were able to do all the signature drinks we hoped for
- It is very easy for vendors to load in and out with the load in space which directly connects to the event space, so it is not complicated and doesn't disturb the event
- The bridal suite is large and you can have snacks catered to it for your bridal party
- There is an accessible washroom right in the event space for those who need it
- They have all the AV needed for the ceremony and reception if your DJ would prefer to use their systems
- It's easy for guests to get to, and there is lots of signage in the building for people to find the event space
- They have some basic things you'll need, like easels and extra tables, linens, all plates / glassware / cutlery
- There is a great room inside for use if it by any chance rains. It's also beautiful and spacious if you needed to go that route

Overall would not have done anything differently for the day. Thank you for everything!

Hart House was the perfect venue for our wedding. Firstly, the building is stunning - minimal decor was needed, and our photos turned out amazing. Tara was incredibly helpful throughout the entire planning process. She was organized, easy to communicate with, and very accommodating. The event staff were all terrific - everything ran like clockwork, and they were quick to adjust to any last minute changes or adjustments. The food was fantastic - from appetizers, to dinner, to late night snacks. The entire experience was so smooth and we are so happy we chose to book Hart House.

We had an great experience hosting our wedding at Hart House and would highly recommend it! Tara on the event coordination team was incredibly helpful through the planning process to the big day and was always quick to respond to our many questions with thorough answers. In addition to the Music and Debates rooms being stunning spaces, the food was delicious and staff provided a high level of service! We've heard nothing but compliments and positive feedback from all of our guests. Having such a great venue really took a lot of stress out of the experience so we could just focus on enjoying our wedding!

We couldn't have asked for a better wedding venue. We picked Hart House initially because of the beauty of both the indoor and outdoor spaces, as well as personal connections to the University, but we were impressed by all aspects of their service from start to finish. We are so thankful to the Hart House team (especially Tara Munro) for making our wedding such a perfect day.

Our guests raved about the space, and some of the little ones actually believed they were in a Harry Potter movie (not our intended effect, but cool for them!). Everyone was also very impressed by the quality of the food. Some of our guests told me, unsolicited, that it was the best wedding food they'd ever had. We had enjoyed the menu items at the tasting beforehand, but I have to say we were also impressed by the quality on the day of. Staff were super friendly, professional, and helpful from start to finish, and Tara was responsive and incredibly helpful during the whole planning process. We both felt our day was perfect, and so much of that was due to how great everyone at Hart House was at doing their jobs and making sure everything went off without a hitch. Thanks again!

If you’re looking for a wedding venue filled with elegance, quality, and timelessness, Hart House is a stellar choice. We are so thankful to the Hart House team (and especially Tara Munro) for bringing our wedding to life. Initially booking Hart House in 2019 for a summer 2020 wedding, the COVID-19 pandemic introduced an unexpected challenge to the patience, flexibility, and compromise required to plan (and replan) a wedding day. Tara and the Hart House team were professional and supportive throughout this process. From budgeting to scheduling, their vast experience made it easy to imagine how our wedding vision and expectations could be fulfilled to the maximum-level quality and enjoyment. Hart House has many options for big to small weddings and everything in between, with a gorgeous gothic/academic architectural atmosphere. We had a phenomenal wedding day filled with love, light, and memories that made every planning moment beforehand worthwhile.

Easily it is one of our favourite places we have had the privilege of performing at over the years (in no small part because of the full-sized grand pianos that are always in perfect tune.)

Its continued popularity is no secret with the enchanting architecture and warm atmosphere enhanced by their incredibly helpful and friendly sales team. Love is always in the air at Hart House *****

I photographed a wedding at Hart House in 2003 and I loved the venue so much that I decided to have my own wedding there in 2005. They were excellent to work with as a photographer and of course, I got amazing treatment as a bride. I had a winter wedding and this venue was absolutely perfect with it's cozy fireplace, gothic architecture and high ceilings. We also had a lot of music at our wedding and the acoustics were fantastic. It probably helped that a piano tuner came in before the music began. Even though my wedding took place in February, we still managed to get photos outdoors!
The wedding I photographed in 2003 took place in the summer and they made use of the courtyard as well as The Great Hall.
In 2015, I photographed another wedding in the smaller music room there. That was also the perfect place for a ceremony and the grounds of Hart House are one of my favourite places to photograph people in all of Toronto.

Hart House holds a special place in my heart as I spent a lot of time there during my University days at U of T. When Sarah & Nick asked me to plan their wedding at Hart House, I was very excited about the opportunity. The venue was very special to them as well, as they had met their while attending U of T. From start to finish the staff at Hart House was welcoming and professional making it a pleasure to work with them. If you are looking for a unique and stunning historic space to host your wedding - and one that offers an outdoor garden space with magnificent architecture and charm (something which is hard to find in downtown Toronto) - you should definitely consider Hart House.
