The great thing about wedding inspiration is that there’s never any shortage of it! And we have over 20 of Toronto’s most inspiring weddings from 2023 here. Between, TikTok, IG, Pinterest, you name it – there’s plenty of ideas to go around. The flipside is that oftentimes, the inspiration that you find online is not remotely realistic for the majority of couples (y’all remember the viral wedding in France that was rumoured to cost $59 million?!), or the vendors you find aren’t local and located in another country (or even hemisphere)!

To help you find local inspiration that is tailored to Toronto/GTA based couples, we reached out to some of the most experienced and popular local wedding planners and asked them to share their most inspired wedding from the past year.  There’s something for everyone – from bright and colorful, to moody and dramatic, to classic and chic, to elegantly minimal, these weddings showcase the breadth of possibilities that are all actually within reach! Here’s over 20 of Toronto’s most inspiring weddings from 2023.

“Jessica and Sam’s private estate wedding was a standout of our 2023 season. Taking place at the groom’s family home, the couple envisioned a sunset ceremony – a risk, as it was completely dependent on cooperative weather. Fortunately, we lucked out with a gorgeous late September day and the most stunning sunset. Post ceremony, guests dined on a delicious family-style meal and danced the night away in a clear top tent under the stars.”

“This outdoor Korean-inspired wedding, under a canopy of twinkling stars, resembled a scene from a fairy tale, filled with enchantment and romance. The monumental Ω backdrop, the enchanting music of the seashell wind chimes, and the transparent acrylic elements wove together a beautiful tapestry that bore witness to the conclusion of the groom and bride’s love story while promising them an eternity of happiness and beauty in their future.”

The acrylic elements infused the entire wedding with a sense of clarity and purity. Transparent chairs and tables seemed to purify everything, leaving only the essence of pure emotions. The newlyweds and their guests sat on these transparent seats, sharing smiles and glances through the acrylic, as if their souls had become crystal clear, free from any impurities.”

“Although it is hard to pick just one, Veronica and Anthony’s wedding at the Four Seasons Hotel Toronto was one of our favourite weddings from 2023. This fashion-forward couple wanted to do something different and were not afraid to take risks. The bride wanted a bold, colourful, and unique wedding that would wow all of her guests. We went with a colour scheme that incorporated black, red, hot pink, and blush pink with gunmetal silver details. Individualized menus die cut in the shape of a heart, along with blush pink napkins completed the look. Overall, the wedding was gorgeous and an evening that all of the guests will surely remember fondly!”

“The concept of ‘Love Across Mountains and Seas’ was woven throughout the entirety of this couples’ wedding — a symbolic testament to the enduring love of a couple who navigated the challenges of a long-distance relationship. Inspired by the couple’s passion for the painterly, the entire wedding is an ode to the art of oil painting. From the colour palette to the details on tables, every aspect in intended to reflect the strokes of an oil painting. The pièce de résistance lies in the ceremony area. The artistic journey begins at the entrance with the placement of Cupid and floral arrangements, guiding guests through a path adorned with artistic elements that lead to the grandeur of the floral arch. This carefully curated design ensures a seamless transition, inviting guests to step into the living canvas of an oil painting, where every detail tells the story of a love that has overcome all distances.”

“This wedding is a true embodiment of elegance, freshness, and grandeur. The venue is transformed into an ethereal garden, with lush floral arrangements cascading from above, creating a canopy of white blooms that evoke a sense of walking through a serene, enchanted forest. The use of predominantly white flowers brings a chic and sophisticated vibe, while the greenery adds a touch of natural vibrancy, reflecting a design that’s both intricate and refreshing.

What we adore most about this wedding setup is the innovative use of space and texture. The floral arrangements are not just decorations but integral elements of the venue’s architecture, enhancing the overall experience. Each detail, each thoughtful touch, is a testament to the couple’s unique story, making this wedding not just an event, but a memorable journey into the heart of love.”

“Mirzi and Alrem’s wedding holds a special place in my heart as one of my favorite, most inspiring weddings from 2023. What started as a consultation for officiating their wedding soon transformed into also coordinating the entire celebration. Their sweetness and organizational skills were apparent, making the planning process a joy… The couple’s wedding reminded me of the pure joy and fun that weddings can bring. It was a celebration filled with laughter, unique touches, and a couple who prioritized their guests’ enjoyment over traditional formalities. Witnessing the love and happiness that surrounded them affirmed why I am passionate about creating these unforgettable moments for my clients.”

“Planning Maggie and Gary’s wedding was an absolute delight and easily my favorite project of 2023. The couple’s deep appreciation for their heritage allowed me to weave in elements of their culture in a way that was both meaningful and beautiful. The Tang dynasty poem, which symbolized their eternal love, served as a unique and poignant theme that was reflected in everything from the dance floor to the wedding cake.

The venue, Toronto’s The Omni King Edward Hotel, was a dream to work with. Its Edwardian architecture and high ceilings provided the perfect backdrop for a wedding that was both elegant and deeply personal. The challenge of incorporating the couple’s cultural heritage into such a setting was an exciting one and seeing it all come together on the day was incredibly rewarding. But what made this wedding truly special was the couple themselves. Their joy and excitement were infectious, and it was a privilege to help bring their vision to life. This wedding wasn’t just about creating a beautiful event, it was about telling Maggie and Gary’s love story, and that’s what made it so inspiring.”

“This wedding was a stand-out to us due to its unique and vibrant design featuring bright and happy colours along with meticulous attention to detail.

The venue was transformed into a kaleidoscope of joy and warmth, with a burst of colors that set the tone for a truly enchanting celebration. Upon entering, guests were greeted by a captivating sight — an explosion of lively hues that adorned every corner of the space. The color palette was a delightful mix of bold and cheerful tones.

It was an absolute pleasure designing and creating this vision together with our couple and the best part, as always, was the day of the wedding, when the dream vision became a reality and we saw tears in Katrina’s eyes as they walked into the room for the big reveal – nothing can compare to this moment for a wedding planner!”

“Held at the breathtaking The Globe and Mail Centre, Christina and Phil’s wedding unfolded on a picturesque fall day that showcased the beauty of the season, offering panoramic views of the Toronto skyline, where the couple’s vision of an elegant fall-inspired wedding took shape.

To seamlessly incorporate the essence of fall without overpowering the atmosphere, a carefully curated colour palette emerged. Neutrals complemented the venue’s aesthetic, while subtle hints of plum and burgundy added a touch of seasonal warmth. Every detail, from the carefully chosen chairs to the tabletop rentals, was selected with precision to harmonize with the venue and the chosen color scheme.

The evening concluded with an epic dance party, beginning with traditional Greek music and evolving into a lively celebration. Adding a delicious twist, Blondies, Pizza, and Krispy Kreme donuts capped off the festivities, creating a memorable conclusion to a day filled with love, thoughtful design, and joyful celebrations.”

“We had two years to plan Julianna and Brandon’s big day and every step of the way was so much fun! It was wonderful to be able to work with such fantastic vendors who saw our design vision and brought it to life. Malaparte - Oliver & Bonacini is a blank palette with a lot of white so accenting it with black, sandstone and a pop of terracotta, which really fit well for an October wedding. We were going for a modern but classic vibe and I think we achieved it! I feel like I don’t get to work with vibrant palettes all the time so given the chance from the couple, I ran with it.”

“Tochi and Kent had a vision of an all-white wedding at Hotel X Toronto‘s very well known as the glass house. They exchanged their tearful vows on the rooftop terrace and danced their way down the altar to start their celebration. Including their baby daughter as their flower girl was one of the most special parts of the day. Family photos that will be cherished for a lifetime.

We designed with traditional and modern elements that were woven into the invitations, day-of stationery and the tablescape. Precious Flowers filled the room with flowers and lots of candle light as guests dined their four course dinner.”

“Alice and Daniel wanted to embrace their fall wedding date and bring the season indoors through a bold colour palette rich with wood tones, terracotta, and greenery. We infused romance by adding lots of candlelight, utilizing both pillar and taper candles in various fall shades. The goal was to create a slightly moody yet elegant decor scheme, and I think we achieved just that.

What made this day truly special, though, was the couple themselves. During every phone call or meeting, you could always tell how much love they have for each other and how excited they were to get married. That certainly carried over onto the big day – they were brimming with happiness all day and night, and it was apparent how much love they have for their family, friends, and even their vendors! It was truly an honour to work alongside them for over a year, to plan and design such a beautiful wedding.”

“Ananthigai and Nirmalan’s wedding was a magnificent and enchanting celebration that beautifully showcased their Tamil heritage. The wedding festivities were a harmonious blend of love, tradition, and cultural pride, making it a perfect example of a traditional Tamil wedding.

In addition to the delectable cuisine, the couple also included traditional Pari and veena players in the wedding festivities. The mesmerizing music played by these talented musicians added a captivating and soul-stirring element to the celebration, filling the air with melodic rhythms that resonated with everyone’s hearts.”

“We loved Meena and Rajiv’s wedding so much! These two lovebirds were planning their South Asian fusion wedding from afar, as they live and work in New York City. We assisted with the full planning and design of this wedding alongside a host of talented vendors.

Meena and Rajiv hosted two ceremonies, an officiant-led ceremony as well as a Hindu ceremony. They wanted a ceremony experience that reflected their values and were able to combine both sides to create a unique and modern wedding ceremony that was true to them.

We loved the urbane downtown Toronto feel for this spectacular fusion wedding, alongside delicious food and snacks from The Host Fine Indian Cuisine. The Globe and Mail Centre has some of the best views in the city and we loved that they were able to show their visitors, many traveling in for the wedding, the best that Toronto had to offer!”

“Candace and Jason’s breathtaking wedding held at the prestigious Park Hyatt Toronto wedding was a true testament to modern elegance and urban sophistication, and we are thrilled to share the highlights of this memorable event.

What truly set this wedding apart was the magical late-night celebration that we curated on the rooftop, offering an unparalleled view of the glittering Toronto skyline. This decision was rooted in our desire to elevate the experience for the couple and their guests, giving them a moment to revel in the city’s beauty while celebrating love under the stars.

This wedding holds a special place in our hearts because it epitomizes the essence of modern romance against the backdrop of a vibrant cityscape. It was a celebration that fused sophistication with a touch of urban flair, creating an atmosphere of pure magic.”

“Nikisha and Emmanuel’s trust, creativity, and commitment to crafting a celebration as unique as their love has made their wedding experience truly special and stand out. Their radiant warmth made every interaction delightful, and their trust in the planning process allowed us to weave a tapestry of elegance, joy, and timeless beauty. As their wedding planner, witnessing their love story unfold into a breathtaking celebration has been an enchanting experience, leaving an indelible mark on our hearts.

The reception décor was a triumph of precision and creativity and each element reflected the couple’s unique journey. Blending luxury seamlessly with innovation, the décor, from the statement pieces to carefully chosen accents, offered an immersive experience. The tables were adorned with a lot of details and the colour palette reflected a sophisticated taste that defined the couple’s style. It was more than aesthetics; it was about telling a story through design, a story that resonated with everyone in attendance.”

“We were blessed to plan so many memorable and beautiful weddings in 2023; all of which were unique and special in their own way. Adura and Seyitan’s wedding took place at The Arlington Estate with about 250 guests. They are both creatives and their style is quite modern, simple but stylish. The emphasis was on the guest experience. We designed their wedding in a mix of pastel colors and added some personal eco-friendly stationeries designed by our creative groom such as a custom menu and gift QR codes, time capsule cards, a telephone voicemail in lieu of guest books to mention a few.  The wedding design reflected the couple’s vision and their personality.”

We went with a very airy, elegant and modern setup for the two ceremonies. It was all fresh florals and as usual, Paras Event Rentals did his magic. The bride wanted the reception at The Globe and Mail Centre to have more Cinderella and fairytale vibes while still keeping the natural and airy feel of the venue. We also added a lot of the powder blues to keep her vision intact, all complimented with the correct lighting.

We believe this was one of our inspiring weddings from the past season. With a budget of over $300,000, we were able to achieve everything that the bride and groom envisioned, despite the inherent hiccups that appear along the way.”

“What I loved most about Aneesa and Harrison’s celebration was that it was a wedding free of tradition with a focus on creating a fun, love-filled atmosphere. With their request to have a “non-wedding wedding”, my goal was for their day to feel like an extension of hosting a dinner party at home that turned into a big party, and for their guests to have an amazing time from beginning to end.

The venue they booked was the Gardiner Museum. It was so much fun incorporating elements that reflected them as individuals and as a couple. Highlights include edible drink topper monograms, custom-illustrated bar menus featuring their fur babies and coasters of their grandparents at each place setting (which brought our bride to tears!).

Every detail of the day – from the décor to the stationery, drinks, music and menu was painstakingly curated for the most intentional, authentic experience and that’s why this day will forever have a place in my heart.”

“I selected Sumi and Sangyeop’s wedding as the most inspiring wedding of 2023 not only because this was a very chic, minimal, and detail-oriented wedding, but because it was a very unconventional wedding outside of the traditional wedding formula.

They were both extremely busy with their jobs and work so they wanted the whole wedding process to be very stress-free and comfortable on their end. Their full trust in our design and planning service also made this happen.

They started their ceremony while the guests were sitting at their dinner tables. We created a wedding aisle between the two long tables and skipped the whole room-flipping process. They also ditched the unnecessarily long speeches, games, and even wedding parties to make their wedding fully laid back and comfortable. This wedding also allowed their guests to fully enjoy the wedding itself with the couple!”

One of the most inspiring weddings of 2023 for us has to be Victoria and Craig’s Hummingbird Garden Celebration.

We infused hummingbirds into their design as a representation of Victoria and Craig’s love and devotion to each other. We created a featured escort table with large-scale hummingbirds and larger than life 3D florals emanating from the centre of the table to greet guests as they walked around to find their names and table number. Surrounding this table on the floor was a custom vinyl with the phrase “Let love guide you…to your seat” printed in sage green.

Victoria and Craig’s wedding is an inspiration to all couples to be true to your personal brand and infuse something of yourselves in your wedding design.”

“Looking back at photos of Kailyn and Ian’s fall wedding at Spencer's at the Waterfront, it’s impossible to find a photo where they’re both not grinning ear to ear. It was such a blast to plan this couple’s special day. The couple had complete trust in their amazing team of vendors, and the result was a stunning design full of tone-on-tone textures.”

“Magda and Brent’s wedding was an ultra-funky weekend extravaganza at the cool and quirky Algonquin Motel the Northridge Inn. The dress code was retro poolside, patterns encouraged, and the whole weekend was a vibe. The bride and groom were super creative with the aesthetic of the weekend and used their wedding logo in all sorts of fun and inventive ways (like their own special flag flying on the dock!). Leading up to the event, they spent many a night hand pouring candles for their guests’ welcome packages, and stuffed them into custom tote bags along with beer cans, disposable cameras, motel-style key chains, and DND hotel door signs, all specially branded, and packed them along with their favourite candy and Polish vodka drinks.

Reception tabletops and florals matched the vibe of a muted Muskoka meets 1960s retro hotel, with groovy, asymmetrical florals in lavender, orange, and lime green. But more than anything the couple was super excited to hit the dance floor! Once dinner was over the party began and continued all night and into the next day with guests lounging by the motel pool and splashing in the beautiful Muskoka Lake.”

“This wedding was a super special one for me, as the groom was not only the brother of a previous wedding I planned, but this wedding had one of my favourite designs of the year. The bride wanted to complement the dark and moody setting of Ancaster Mill and brighten it up with some colour, and we landed on a palette of blush, fuschia and bright red – in other words, pure Barbie colours!

All in all, it was a feast for the eyes and the heart. My clients met in high school, and they were each other’s firsts for everything. When the groom said in his speech that he still chose her that day like he chose her so many years ago, I don’t think there was a dry eye in the room.”

“Brandi and Justin hosted an intimate and intentional wedding with 39 of their nearest and dearest. They wanted a very neutral palette with a within-nature approach. Lots of cream and green tones to add to the beauty of the venue, The Lune. The wedding was so special, the vibes were immaculate, and the party continued until morning.”

“The wedding of Dr. Vlad and Biara was an enchanting blend of Bridgeton and French Garden themes held at the Windsor Arms Hotel. The choice of this venue was reminiscent of my clients’ Parisian engagement, which added a unique and symbolic touch with its European-inspired décor, creating an atmosphere of romance and sophistication.  Pastel floral arrangements further enhanced the charm, gracing each table with exquisite beauty.

The celebration embraced cultural richness through a sweets table featuring over 15 varieties, a joyful nod to the common Brazilian wedding tradition. Each guest received a “Bem Casado” as a favour, a sweet symbol of prosperity and good luck for the newlyweds and their cherished attendees. The lively beats of the Trubaci band playing traditional Serbian brass music, honoring the groom’s roots, turned this union into a vibrant dance of shared traditions, uniting everyone in song and celebration.”
